A project at MICA exploring the role of choice and chance in the art of making.
An excerpt from my process book:
"I believe that our lives are a sum of our chances and choices, a combination of what we can and cannot control. It is this shifting degree of control that I find most interesting in the natural world, in relationships, and in serendipitous encounters.
In order to further explore these three ideas, I have created collaged posters using a process centered on control. I choose the medium of collage because of its ability to transparently incorporate and display a broad range of decision-making techniques.
I chose when to use extreme control and when to relinquish it. I limited myself to images that were both printed and in my possession. While I also used the open-source programming language called Processing to generate randomized arrangements."
